Substantially parallel ejection opening arrays 21-23, 31-33 are formed by arranging a plurality of ejection openings 1 of a recording head 300 at a specified pitch. The ejection opening arrays form an ejection array opening group where corresponding ejection openings match each other in the scanning direction of the recording head and a second ejection opening array group 30 comprising ejection opening arrays 31-33 is contiguous to a first ejection opening array group 20 comprising ejection opening arrays 21-23. Two ejection opening array groups 20, 30 have ejection opening arrays 21, 31 ejecting the same kind of liquid to adjacent rows and the ejection openings in an array forming an ejection opening array group are formed to complement each other in the scanning direction.
