Title:
LIQUID LEVEL DETECTOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01158321
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a simplified detector without mechanical element characterized by easy handling, a compact configuration and flexibility, by removing a part of or all of the external protecting seal or clad around optical fiber, and bending this part. CONSTITUTION:All part of a clad 2 along the length of a specified distance L of the single line of plastic optical fiber having a diameter of, e.g., 1.0mm is removed. The part is machined into a specified thickness T. The clad removed part is bent by 180 deg. so that a form with an obtuse angle is not provided. When this detector is used as a liquid level gage shown in the Figure and a liquid level E is positioned at the bent part, incident light K is outputted into the liquid. Therefore, the light does not reach a light receiving part. Thus, the liquid level is detected. When the length of the bent part in the up and down directions is made small, the accuracy in detection of the liquid level is improved. Therefore, alignment of a light axis is not required, and convenience is improved.
