Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-capacity lithium ion secondary battery in which the falling of a negative electrode mixture can be prevented.SOLUTION: A lithium ion secondary battery comprises an electrode body including: a negative electrode having a support body composed of a piece of metal foil having a through-hole extending through the foil from one face to the other, and a negative electrode mixture layer provided on at least one face of the support body and including a negative electrode active material primarily, provided that the negative electrode active material includes a material S which is a Si-containing negative electrode material; and a positive electrode having a support body composed of a piece of metal foil, and a positive electrode mixture layer provided at least one face of the support body and including a metal oxide including, as a positive electrode active material, Li and a metal M other than Li. A method for manufacturing the lithium ion secondary battery comprises the steps of: preparing a third electrode including a Li source; preparing a buffer layer having a Gurley value of 200-800 sec/100 cc; disposing the buffer layer between the outermost negative electrode in the electrode body and the third electrode so that the buffer layer is put in touch with each of them; and short-circuiting the negative electrode and the third electrode to introduce Li ions into the negative electrode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
