Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate the load distribution of each wheel. SOLUTION: The load distribution estimator comprises a section 22 for operating a microgain, i.e., the ratio of the microamplitude of wheel speed to the microamplitude of brake pressure when the brake pressure is subjected to microexcitation with the resonance frequency component of a vibration system comprising the chassis, the wheels and the pavement, for each wheel, and a section 26 for estimating the load distribution of each wheel based on the fact that a positive correlation is present between the microgain and the wheel load. The load distribution estimating section 26 calculates the load on each wheel by multiplying the microgain by a proportional constant or converting the microgain according to a predetermined table. Furthermore, a load shift is calculated from the microgain of each wheel and then the distribution ratio of load shift between longitudinal and lateral directions is calculated. Since the load distribution is estimated directly from the microgain correlated with the wheel load, the estimation accuracy is enhanced.
