To provide a loading device for physical exercise apparatus which suppresses load change in the process of movement in an advancing direction to be small and which applies a necessary load to the body only in the process of movement in the advancing direction and reduces or removes the load in a returning direction.
A first chamber 4 and a second chamber 5 in a cylinder 2 divided with a piston 3 are communicated with each other through a first path 6c provided with a check valve 7 which permits the movement of working fluid to the second chamber 5 and blocks the movement of the working fluid to the first chamber 4, and communicated through a second path 6d which permits the movement of the working fluid in both of the directions. A load adjusting valve 8 is provided in the second path 6d. The first and second paths 6c and 6d are formed of pipes 6 for piping provided outside the cylinder, and are provided with springs 11 for biasing a piston 3 in the direction of opening the check valve 7.
