To open a lid by stably releasing the lock of the lid to a closed position by one hand without allowing a container to be raised.

A garbage container 5 comprises the container 1 and the lid 4 so pivotally supported on a shaft 3 at the rear of the opening 2 of the container 1 that it can be opened and closed around the pivot part. The garbage container further comprises a holding part 12 pivotally supported on a shaft 11 at the front of the lid 4, extending upward from the pivot part and held, rotated around the pivot part, and raising and lowering the front part of the lid 4 and a locking part 13 integrated with the holding part 12, extending from the pivot part downward, engaged with the engagement part 2a of the opening 2 of the container 1, and rotated by the holding part 12 between a position for locking the lid 4 in a closed state and a position for unlocking the lock.
