To improve the assembly property by unitizing a locking part of a seat slide device, realizing retro-fitting to an upper rail, temporarily fitting a coil spring therefor, permanent fitting it after the assembly, and adjusting the rotational urging force.
A lock piece 5 is rotatably and pivotably supported by a shaft 7 of a bracket 6 formed of an L-shaped member of symmetrical configuration. A spring hooking temporary projecting part 13 to lock one end part 14a of the coil spring 14 coiled around the shaft 7 is provided on the lock piece 5. The other end part 14b of the coil spring 14 is locked to a base part of an unlocking lever part 12 of the lock piece 5. A spring hooking projecting part 11 to twist and lock one end part 14a of the coil spring 14 during the final adjustment after assembling the locking part 18 to an upper rail 2 is formed on the bracket 6 in a vicinity of the spring hooking temporary projecting part 13.
