Abstract:
PURPOSE:To completely cancel the moment of a reaction force in an engine, by reversely rotating a pair of crankshafts at equal speed to each other and obtaining the same moment of inertia in portions which make an integrally rotating motion with the crankshafts. CONSTITUTION:Crankshafts 1a, 1b are rotated in the reverse direction to each other at equal speed further with phase difference parts 2beta. Then an even number of cylinders 3a, 3b are symmetrically provided in such a manner as to form an angle 2alpha correspondingly to these crankshafts. Crank webs 7a, 7b for advanced and lag side cylinders are provided in such a manner that their centers of gravity are situated at angles alpha-beta and alpha+beta advanced side respectively from the symmetrical positions of crank pins 6a, 6b with respect to centers of the crankshafts. The advanced side cylinder satisfies the relation of K1=cos (beta-alpha)=mc1l1/mp1r1 and the lag side cylinder satisfies the relation of K2=cos (beta+alpha)=mc2l2/mp2r2. For each cylinder, mp1, mp2 show mass of pistons, 2r1, 2r2 show strokes, mc1, mc2 show mass of the webs and l1, l2 show distances between the above described centers of gravity and the centers of the crankshafts.
