PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lubricant consisting mainly of a fatty acid alkali salt, for use in bottling or canning process for cow milk, beer, Japanese wine (bake) or soft drink, esp. excellent in foaming-suppressive effect as well as lubricity of conveyor surface when a conveyor is set in motion, and also excellent in stability, esp. stability in a diluted aqueous solution.
SOLUTION: This lubricant consists mainly of a fatty acid, a nonionic surfactant 5-10 in HLB number capable of emulsifying the fatty acid and a base such as ethanplamine or propanofamine, and the fatty acid and the base are contained inequimolar weight so as not to be in an excess of the base. Besides, this lubricant may also contain a chelating agent consisting of an aminocarboxylic acid ethanolamine salt and/or propanolamine salt formed by reaction between an aminocarboxylic acid and ethanolamine and/or propanolamine in equimolar amounts.
