To provide a lubricating oil composition for lubricating an internal combustion engine, having a low sulfuric acid ash content, a low sulfur content and a low phosphorus content, and being especially suitable for lubricating a diesel engine using a low-sulfur fuel.
The lubricating oil composition having the low sulfuric acid ash content, low sulfur content and low phosphorus content includes a base oil of lubricating viscosity and the following additive components: (a) a metal-containing cleaner including an alkyl salicylate and/or an alkyl carboxylate of an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal, (b) a nitrogen-containing ashless dispersant and/or a nitrogen-containing viscosity index improver of dispersing type, (c) an oil-soluble molybdenum-containing friction modifier, (d) a neutralized salt of a fatty acid with a fatty amine, and (e) an antioxidant.
