In a luminaire, which has a bottomed, cylindrical main-body casing 1 enclosing a reflector 7 and a halogen lamp 4, and a light transmitting plate holding frame 2 fitted to the open end of the main body casing 1, a pair of connecting arms 17 are pivoted to peripheral sides that correspond to the diameter of the main body casing 1, in such a way that they can move back and forth longitudinally and rotate relative to the main body casing 1. A support 18 for a cloth shade 23 is pivotally supported to the ends of the connecting arms 17 in such a way as to be capable of rocking. The shade support 18 comprises an annular part 19 formed of wire and leg parts 20 extended from portions corresponding to the diameter of the annular part 19. The ends of the leg parts 20 are connected to the ends of the connecting arms 17 in such a way that they can rock, and the cloth shade 23 is placed to cover the shade support 18.
