Abstract:

To solve the problem with joining between aluminum and a carbon material as the existing problem, and to produce a carbon material-aluminum composite which is lightweight and has excellent mechanical strength by using an electric arc or an electrochemical process.

In the method, the Al-C covalent bonding of an aluminum-carbon material is formed using an electrochemical process. The method includes a step of applying a potential to an electrochemical apparatus composed of an anode and a cathode connected with a carbon material, and filled with an electrolytic solution, and plating the surface of the carbon material connected to the cathode with aluminum. The invention further relates to: a method for producing an aluminum-carbon material composite in which covalent bonding is formed by applying a potential to the electrochemical apparatus and plating the surface of the carbon material with aluminum; and the aluminum-carbon material composite produced by the method.
