PURPOSE: To provide a machine tool capable of executing the automatic change of a cutter for a spindle head in a short time.
CONSTITUTION: A spindle head 13 freely movable in X, Y, Z three directions is provided on a fixed base 2, a sub-magazine 28 capable of holding plural cutters T on this spindle head 13, and a cutter changing arm 30 executing the delivery of the cutter T between the same sub-magazine 28 and the spindle 18 of the above spindle head 13 are provided. On the one hand, a main magazine 19 capable of holding a lot of cutters T is provided on the above fixed base 2, and the delivery of the cutter T between this main magazine 19 and above sub-magazine 28 is executed by a cutter changing arm 25. The cutter T necessary for the processing of the work is transferred to the sub-magazine 28 with being selected from the main magazine 19 in advance, and is used for work with its being installed in order to the spindle 18 therefrom.
