Abstract:
To control a machining error associated with an inclination of a main shaft device or the like caused by the own weight of the device or inclination of column.
A machine tool includes: a main shaft head 6 including a ram 7 with a main shaft 20 and a saddle 8 for supporting the ram; a plurality of columns 10 for supporting the main shaft head 6 in a direction perpendicular to an axial direction of the main shaft 20, while vertically guiding the main shaft head at each of both side positions of the position of the center of gravity; and an up and down movement driving mechanism 16 for moving the main shaft head 6 along the columns 10.
