Title:
MACHINING METHOD FOR CAMSHAFT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03229047
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To secure such a camshaft that is less in burr on both sides of a cam part through a few processes by chamfering both ends of a cam surface of the cam part of the camshaft and then grinding this cam surface.

CONSTITUTION: First of all, both ends 33 of a cam surface 14 of a cam part 12 in a camshaft 10 are chamfered and then the cam surface 14 is ground. Since both these ends 33 of the cam surface 14 are chamfered in advance like that, the cam surface 14 to be ground is gradually expanded while grinding the cam surface 14. In brief, when a grindstone 16 advances as grinding so far as a distance B as shown in a chain line 35, the cam surface 14 to be ground is expanded as far as a distance C and turned to a cam surface 34. Therefore burrs 36 produced on both ends 33 are removed as the cam surface 14 is ground and turned to the cam surface 34, so that such a fear that burrs might occur on both sides of the cam part 12 of the camshaft becomes lessened finally.
