Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable and low-floating slider wherein slider vibration is reduced at the time of contact even when the slider and a disk are brought into contact with each other.
SOLUTION: A part of a slider main body 20 is extended to the portion of a thin-film magnetic head 40 to form an extended part 30, and a projected part 31 is disposed in the extended part 30 to project to a disk surface side. The height of the projected part 31 from the disk opposite surface (step surface 29) of a slider main body 20 is set equal to/higher than a magnetic head element 41, and the area of the surface of the projected part 31 opposite the disk 4 is set smaller than a predetermined value which is smaller than the area of the thin-film magnetic head 40.
