PURPOSE: To stop a magnetic levitation vehicle at LIM stator position by running the magnetic levitation vehicle by means of a landing roller based on a signal fed from a signal transmitter arranged at a position separated by a predetermined distance from the LIM stator.
CONSTITUTION: Upon provision of an emergency control signal from an optical transmitter 33, arranged at a position separated by a predetermined distance from an LIM stator 22, to an optical receiver 5, a levitation control circuit 31 drives a power amplifier circuit 32 and controls the current flowing through an electromagnet 4a such that the magnetic force of the electromagnet 4a cancels out the magnetic force of a permanent magnet. Consequently, a magnetic levitation vehicle 1 grounds on a grounding rail through grounding rollers. The predetermined distance is set equal to the distance on which the magnetic levitation vehicle travels with inertia after landing on the landing rail.
