PURPOSE: To reproduce adjacent recorded tracks by scanning a corresponding recorded track and a precedent recorded track with magnetic heads, delaying an output signal of the magnetic heads and subtracting this from an output signal to be subsequently outputted.

CONSTITUTION: Under the holding state of the magnetic heads 2A and 2B having each individual large head width Tw to offset the side of the precedent recorded track TB against their corresponding recorded track TA, a tracking error signal SER1 is generated by scanning the corresponding recorded tracks TA in turn so as to drive a capstan motor 37. An output signal S1 of the magnetic heads 2A and 2B is converted into a digital signal D1, and a delay signal D2 is generated by a memory circuit 38. The delay signal D2 is subtracted from the successively outputted signal D1 by a subtraction circuit 32, and an output signal D3 recorded on the corresponding recorded track TA is extracted. Thus, an effect in the case of the recorded track formed at the same azimuth can be canceled.
