To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus facilitating an access to a patient, reducing a burden applied to an operator and improving operability of a technique by mitigating restrictions to opening parts in a receiving coil.
This magnetic resonance imaging apparatus is so formed that the receiving coils 25 and 26 are provided with slide mechanisms, the receiving coil 25 is served as a fixed side coil and the receiving coil 26 is served as a movable side coil. The receiving coil 26 is formed with the openings 26a and 26b. When performing the technique, the operator can manually slide the receiving coil 26 and move the openings 26a and 26b to appropriate positions to easily access to a puncture needle and an endoscope. When performing the MR imaging, the operator fixes the receiving coil 26 in a position suited to the imaging to perform the MR imaging, and when performing an operation, the operator slides the receiving coil 26 to secure the opening position appropriate for the operation and perform the operation.
