Abstract:
PURPOSE: To find the residual time upto the end of tape by deciding presence of record content information (TOC) based on main ID information recorded in a PCM area and displaying a value, obtained by subtracting a current absolute time from final absolute time, as a residual time if the TOC is present.
CONSTITUTION: A magnetic tape 1 travels in the tape traveling direction while plus and minus azimuth recording/reproducing heads 4, 5 perform scanning in the traveling direction of magnetic head to form a track number obliquely on the tape 1. In reproducing operation, main ID information, stored together with a time axis compressed voice signal, is read out from a digital recording area (24) and fed to a control circuit in order to decide whether TOC is recorded on the tape. If the TOC is recorded on the tape, a value obtained by subtracting current absolute time from final absolute time is displayed, as a residual time, on a display 22.
