PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic tape cassette helical scan recorder in which a friction due to that an information recording surface is brought into contact with plural angular surfaces of blocks many times is prevented.
CONSTITUTION: A magnetic tape cassette helical scan recorder 100 has magnetic tape twistingly feeding mechanisms 101, 102, which have one pair of multi- surface multi-curvature angular air bearing blocks 17, 18 for transferring a magnetic tape 103 arround an inclined rotary head scanner 15. Vacuum sucking walls 9, 10 positioning at both sides of the rotary head scanner 15 act as auxiliary roles setting the magnetic tape 103 from a magnetic tape cassette 1 arround the rotary head scanner 15. When a sucked tape setting operation is completed, the air bearing blocks 17, 18 automatically move to positions adjacent to the rotary head scanner 15.
