PURPOSE: To improve the dispersed state of magnetic powder of which the surface is treated by a silane coupling agent having chlorine and a vinyl group- contg. compd. having ≥100mol.wt. and to prevent the detachment of the magnetic powder from a magnetic toner by incorporating said magnetic powder into the magnetic toner.
CONSTITUTION: The silane coupling agent contg. chlorine includes, for example, alkyl chlorosilane, phenyl chlorosilane, etc. The vinyl group-contg. compd. having ≥100mol.wt. includes, for example, acrylate, methacrylate, etc. The method of obtaining the magnetic powder of which the surface is treated by the silane coupling agent having chlorine and the vinyl group-contg. compd. having 100mol.wt. is not particularly limited. There are a method of treating first the magnetic powder I with the silane coupling agent II having chlorine under heating in, for example, an inert org. solvent then treating the same with the vinyl group-contg. compd. III having ≥100mol.wt. under heating or a method for mixing the above- mentioned I, II and III and treating simultaneously the mixture under heating in the insert org. solvent.
