A cleaning unit 35 of the maintenance device includes a slope 39a of a rubbing member 39 used for cleaning the nozzle formation surface 21a in the recording head 21 which ejects inks from nozzles 22, a downside plane part 39b of the rubbing member 39 used for cleaning the side surface 21b at the recording head 21, and a rotating member 37 which can operate while supporting the rubbing member 39 and operates so that a corresponding surface of the rubbing member 39 contacts with the surface to be cleaned when the recording head 21 is cleaned.
