To obtain a manhole protection method coping with earthquake, capable of protecting a manhole by easily setting a target strength withstanding a stress imparted horizontally when a junction between concrete side lumps of the manhole is horizontally shifted due to an earthquake and by effectively preventing sediment and water from entering the manhole from the shifted junction.
A junction 3 between laminated concrete side lumps 2, 2 is cut from the inside of the concrete side lumps 2, 2 along the junction 3 in the circumferential direction to a depth of a predetermined position not exceeding an outer peripheral wall surface to form a peripheral groove portion 4 opening on the inner peripheral side and having a predetermined width in a height direction in the junction 3 between the concrete side lumps 2,2. The peripheral groove portion 4 is filled and sealed with an elastic adhesive 5 so that it is shorn by a force weaker than that breaking the concrete side lumps 2, 2.
