Abstract:
PURPOSE:To ensure a double lock function so as to enhance the safety by coupling a shift lock mechanism in association with brake operation and a steering lock mechanism to a member for inhibiting a shift lever from moving from a P range to a running range. CONSTITUTION:In an automatic transmission 1, a shift lever 3 is journalled at its lower end to a rotary shaft 3a so as to select one a plurality of shift zones 4. When a shift lever 3 is in a P range, a guide pin 5 is locked by a holding member 6. In this case, the lowering of the holding member 6 is inhibited by means of an inhibiting member 7 which is connected thereto with a brake 11 through an actuator 8, and which is also connected thereto with one end of a wire 9 whose the other end is connected to a steering lock mechanism 12. With this arrangement, when both shift lock and steering lock mechanisms are released, the inhibiting member 7 is moved to allow the holding member 6 to lower so as to release the lock of the guide pin 5.
