PURPOSE: To prevent the bending caused by welding of a shaft member by suspending the shaft member to attach a weight to its lower end, and welding a cam and a journal member as the shaft member is rotated.
CONSTITUTION: After a cam member 1 and a journal member 2 are fittedly attached to a shaft member 3, the upper end of the shaft member 3 is mounted in a chuck 5b for a motor of a rotary driving device 5, and a disc-shaped weight 8 is mounted on a weight mounting plate 6a. The lower end of the shaft member 3 and a mandrel 6b of a weight supporter 6 are connected through a chuck 7 for the weight. In addition to that, the cam member 1, the journal member 2 and the shaft member 9 are severally welded over their whole circumference as a high energy beam 9 is successively moved downward with the shaft member 3 rotated by a motor 5a, and the weight 8 is removed after welding process. Thus bending at the welded part of the shaft member 3 can be prevented by manufacturing a cam shaft in this way.
