Abstract:
PURPOSE:To simplify the formation of an oil hole on a shaft member by previously forming the oil hole on a cam shaft component made of sintered material, and fitting the said component on a shaft member made of steel pipe to couple them by sintering, and then forming the oil hole on the shaft member. CONSTITUTION:A cam shaft component 10 with a previously formed oil hole 16a is made of sintered alloy, and fitted on a shaft member 12 made of steel pipe. After fitted at a specified position, they re coupled by sintering, and during then, elements, namely C, Ni, Cr, and Mo, diffuse from sintered material into the shaft member 12 made of the steel pipe to form a hardened layer 14 on its surface, and then an oil hole 16b fitting with the oil hole 16a is formed on the shaft member 12. In this case, since a part for forming the oil hole 16b has no formed hardened layer, the oil hole can be easily formed.
