Title:
MANUFACTURE OF CAMSHAFT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03189307
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent any weld crack from occurring in a weld zone by heating the weld zone immediately after welding with a high energy beam which is installed separately from a welding high energy beam and specifies the irradiation direction. CONSTITUTION:A cam member 1, having a hollow part, being high carbon at least on the surface, is fitted in an outer circumference of a pipe-make shaft member 2, and then the cam member 1 and the shaft member 2 are welded together with a high energy beam 4 irradiated from the normal direction of the shaft member 2. Another high energy beam 5 apart from the high energy beam 4 is irradiated to a weld zone immediately after welding from the tangential direction of the shaft member 2, thereby heating the weld zone. With this constitution, it is annealed over an extensive range, namely, long time as being heated at a lower temperature than that at time of the welding. Accordingly, since the weld zone of the cam member 1 can avoid any quenching, at least the surface will not contract so largely irrespective of high carbon, so that a weld crack is not produced at all.
