PURPOSE: To manufacture a multipolar cylindrical magnet regardless of the axial length by a method wherein a magnetic molded matter with (m) poles is formed and the boundaries between the (m) poles are made coincident with the boundary of the poles at the time of magnetization.
CONSTITUTION: The annular cavity is formed of the outer mold arranged alternately and annularly in a state that the magnetic members 3 and 5 are magnetically shielded and a cylindrical inner mold 4 consisting of large specific permeability material. In a state that a composition for magnet is stuffed in this cavity to give magnetic fluxes to the magnetic members 3 and 5 the magnetic powder in the composition, the composition is solidified into a cylindrical magnetic molded material 20 having (m) poles (m=4 in the diagram). After this molded matter is demagnetized, the molded matter is magnetized in m.n/two poles [the (n) is a whole number.] in such a way that the boundaries between the orientations of the (m) poles are made to coincide with the boundary of the poles at the time of magnetization of the molded matter. Hereby the multipolar cylindrical magnet can be made in the axial length without limit and with good efficiency.
