Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a diamond coating tool whereby a light alloy like Al-Si can be cut at a high speed further with a long life.
CONSTITUTION: A connection phase of the surface layer part of a sintered hard alloy base unit, where WC serves as a dispersion phase and one kind or more of iron group element serves as a connection phase, is set to an intermetal compound of iron group element, and its surface applies coating of a diamond film 3 by a vapor phase synthetic method. The diamond film 3 is formed by decomposing mixed gas of hydrocarbon with hydrogen by plasma.
