PURPOSE: To obtain an elastic roll in which an elastic layer having uniform filler distribution and uniform physical properties can be formed and a mold by opening the inlet of an air gap formed between the outer periphery of a shaft in a mold body and the inner periphery of the body.
CONSTITUTION: A shaft holding member 2 is moved down by a hydraulic cylinder, inserted from the upper part of an extruder 8 into a pipe mold 1, the lower end of a shaft 7 is engaged with the bottom recess of the mold 1, and the shaft 7 is disposed in the mold 1. An elastic element forming material is introduced from an inlet tube 20 into a material reservoir 5 by a screw 4 in this state, and a predetermined quantity of elastic element forming material is extruded to an air gap formed between the inner periphery of the mold l and the outer periphery of the shaft 7 to be filled. The material is simultaneously filled toward the axial direction over the entire periphery of the outer periphery of the shaft 7. Treatment such as vulcanization, etc., is executed, and elastic layer is formed on the outer periphery of the shaft 7, the member 2 is raised, and an elastic roll is taken out from the mold 1 via the upper part of the extruder 8.
