Abstract:
PURPOSE: To efficiently manufacture a flexible pipe with partially wave-profile by forming an annular or a spiral groove only to a prescribed range at a prescribed position in the outer peripheral surface while continuously feeding the metallic pipe.
CONSTITUTION: This apparatus is provided with a die 2 which is rotatably fitted in a housing 1 rotated while centering the axis of the metallic pipe 5 to be worked and has projecting lines 2a for pressing the outer peripheral surface of the metallic pipe 5 in the inner peripheral surface of the hole, and a detecting instrument for detecting the feeding distance during feeding the metallic pipe 5. At the time of detecting the fed metallic pipe 5 coming to the position to be worked, the die 2 receiving this detected result, is displaced so that the projecting lines 2a in the die position to the working position for forming the wave profile by thread-rolling while pressing the outer peripheral surface of the metallic pipe 5 accompanied with the rotation of the housing 1. On the other hand, at the time of detecting the fed metallic pipe 5 coming to the position to be not worked, the die 2 receiving this detected result, is displaced so that the projecting lines 2a in the die position to the non-working position which does not abut on the peripheral surface of the metallic pipe 5.
