Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable industrially executing a tube-making method by solid-phase pressure welding by which bead-cutting is unnecessitated, high productivity is secured and steel tubes excellent in the quality of seam and surface skin is manufactured.
SOLUTION: Edge preheating temp., edge heating temp. and temp. in seam part are respectively measured on each outlet side of an edge pre-heating device 6, edge heating device 7 and squeeze rolls 8, pressure welding temp. is calculated from the edge heating temp. for every variation of these measured values and the change in thickness and material passing speed and heat input in edge heating is controlled so that the pressure welding temp. falls in an allowable range. And also keep time in diffusion welding temp. region is calculated from the temp. in the seam part and pressure welding temp. and the heat input in edge preheating is controlled so that the keep time and edge preheating temp. fall in the allowable ranges.
