Abstract:

To effectively manufacture a high molecular polycarbonate excellent in color.

This manufacturing process consists of two processes, pre- polycondensation process 1c, 1d, in which a polycondensation of an aromatic dihydroxy compound and a dicarbonate is carried out to obtain a prepolymer having 4000 to 15000 of viscosity average molecular weight, the post- polycondensation process is carried out in a horizontally placed signal shaft agitating cylindrical reactor installed with a pair of axes of rotation mounted on the both ends of the reactor, an agitating blade mounted between the axes of rotation, without a center member of agitation passing through the reactor, to obtain a high molecular weight polycarbonate having viscosity average molecular weight of 18000 to 40000.
