PURPOSE: To manufacture the powdered tungsten with particle distribution effective for superior sintering property, by adding a specified quantity of molybdenum to ammonium tungstate, ammonium paratungstate, etc..

CONSTITUTION: 0.03W1.0 wt.% molybdenum in the style of molybdenum compound is added to either one of ammonium tungstate, ammonium paratungstate or tungsten oxide, and is reduced at above 950°C. According to this method, the powdered tungsten is obtained with a particle distribution rich in coarse particles sized above 10, and with stable sintering property. This powdered tungsten gives a desirable effect to the carbide tool prepared by mixing with powdered carbon, by compressing and forming, and by sintering.
