Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent short circuit in a sealed alkaline storage battery using a paste type nickel plate containing Co/CoO.
CONSTITUTION: A positive electrode made of a paste type nickel plate containing Co and/or CoO is stacked with a negative electrode through a separator to form an electrode group. The electrode group is put into a container, and alkaline electrolyte is filled into the container, then the container is sealed within one hour after the electrolyte was filled. The initial charge is conducted within about 10 hours after the electrolyte was filled, and electric capacity in charging is limited to about 5% or more of the rated capacity of the battery.
