Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively reduce the amount of trimming by limiting the edge seam flaws of a stainless steel plate extremely in width ends.
SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the stainless steel plate in which a continuously cast stainless steel slab is uniformly heated in a heating furnace, width press is executed with horizontal opposed press anvils, next, rough rolling where edging with vertical rolls and thickness reduction with horizontal rolls are applied is executed and, next, finish rolling is executed, the horizontal opposed press anvils are made into projecting anvils 1 having a trapezoidal projecting part in its middle part, the height KH of the projecting part is taken as 1/15-1/4 of the thickness of the slab, the length KA of the top side of the projecting part as 1/3-3/4 of the thickness of the slab and the length KB of the base side of the projecting part as (slab thickness + (10 to 30))mm. In the first three passes of the rough rolling following to the width press, the thickness is reduced to ≤50% with only the horizontal rolls and, edging with the vertical rolls after that is limited to ≤30mm per pass.
