PURPOSE: To apply an uniform amount of sealing material efficiently by fitting a thin and long member where sealing material is carried at the lower end to an elevation member vertically movably for a means of applying the sealing material to the liquid crystal injection opening of a cell filled with liquid crystal.

CONSTITUTION: The thin and long members 7 provided with stoppers 8 at the upper ends are fitted to the elevation member 9 in a vertically movable state. A stage 4 where a liquid crystal cell 1 are arranged through a cell standing jig 2 with injection openings up is moved horizontally along a guide plate 5 and when plural thin and long members 9 are positioned over a sealing material vessel 3 respectively, the elevation member 9 is lowered along a guide shaft 10 to dip them in the sealing material in the vessel 3, sticking the sealing material 11 to the tips of the thin and long members 7. Then, the elevation member is elevated and the stage 4 is moved horizontally; when the liquid crystal cells 1 come right under the thin and long member 7, the thin and long members 7 are lowered together with the elevation member 9 to apply the sealing material 11 to the injection openings of the liquid crystal cells 1.
