To provide a cylinder block manufacturing method capable of obtaining a cylinder block of excellent appearance and high strength and rigidity and reducing the cost.
After a cylinder sleeve 14 is inserted in a hole part 16 of a block body 12, a friction stirring and joining tool detachment member 30 having a curved surface similarly curved to that of an inner circumferential wall part in the cylinder sleeve 14 is arranged to overlap an end face on a gasket surface 24 side in the cylinder sleeve 14 and a gasket surface 24. An outer circumferential wall part of the cylinder sleeve 14 and an inner circumferential wall part of the hole part 16 are friction stirred and joined with each other by a probe 44 of a friction stirring and joining tool 40, and then, the probe 44 is detached from the friction stirring and joining tool detachment member 30.
