In this manufacturing method of the organic EL element which is described in one of the Claims 1 to 4, the method is characterized in that, a barrier plate pattern has a plurality of stepped shapes, and at least one or more layers of barrier plate insulating films are laminated on the barrier plate, and when the width (a) and the height (b) of the barrier plate are set, the contact angle of an organic luminescent medium material in its wet state satisfies =tan-1(2b/a) in particular.
