Abstract:

To provide a map data updating device, a map data updating method, and a program for precisely determining whether or not a route, along which a vehicle has traveled, is to be updated to map data as a new road without uniquely determining with considering various situations.

A road determination part 61a determines whether or not a vehicle trajectory is a road to be updated. Specifically, it determines whether or not a travel route where map matching has become impossible (road-likely route) is a road to be updated. In this regard, it determines that the route is a road to be updated when a total value of positive or negative costs established according to a kind of background data 22b where the road-likely route has traveled, road data, travel situations, etc. is higher than zero.
