Title:
MASTICATION MONITORING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3914480
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mastication monitoring device for easily obtaining accurate measurement results.
SOLUTION: This mastication monitoring device includes a probe 2 mounted on a cheek to detect the reduced type hemoglobin concentration of a mastication muscle. A photo receiving sensor 22 of the probe 2 detects scattering light in the mastication muscle, and delivers a signal of photo-detectable quantity to a signal processing part 3. The signal processing part 3 calculates the reduced type hemoglobin concentration (a change with passage of time) from the signal of the photo-detectable quantity, and further calculates the output S (a change with passage of time) depending on the change with passage of reduced type hemoglobin concentration. A mastication frequency counting part 41 counts mastication times by detecting the peak in periodic change of a difference Sd between the output S and the moving average value Sma of the output S.
