To provide a material for manufacturing a balloon easy to print by an ink jet printer and a printing method by the ink jet printer.

An ink absorbing layer constituted of a material suitable for absorbing the ink of the ink jet printer for forming a pattern is applied by coating on one surface of a base constituted of a vinyl resin layer, desirably an EVOH(ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer) layer, and of a laminated straight-chain polyethylene resin layer. On the other surface of the base, a soft auxiliary member layer formed of a thin member coated with an adhesive easy to peel off is adhered temporarily for increasing the thickness of the base. Thereby, the material is so constituted that it can be charged simply into a paper tray of the ink jet printer. Printing is made thereon by the ink jet printer and the auxiliary member layer is peeled off.
