Title:
MEASURING INSTRUMENT FOR QUENCHING DEPTH
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03267701
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To measure the quenching depth of an inward flange with high accuracy by supporting a cylindrical part at a slanting attitude and forming a magnetic circuit. CONSTITUTION:The cylindrical part 34 has both end parts 36 and 38 opened, the annular inward flange 40 is provided on the inner peripheral surface, and the flange 40 is quenched at a high frequency to hold steel balls of ball bearings arranged at both sides. Then a probe 30 supports the part 34 slantingly by a couple of contactors 48a and 48b and a support base 32 and the flank 42 of the flange 40 is brought into contact with the contactors 48a and 48b gravita tionally to form a magnetic circuit which passes the flange 40 by using an exciting coil 52, and the exciting force when magnetic flux density becomes zero is detected by a magnetic sensor 58 and the quenching depth is found from a data map which is found in advance and an arithmetic expression. Consequently, the flange 40 and contactors 48a and 48b come into contact in a nearly constant contact state at all times, reproducibility is excellent, and the quenching depth is found with sufficient accuracy.
