Abstract:

PURPOSE: To discharge safely and easily the molten steel and slag remaining in the lower part on the side wall of a tundish by constituting a titled mechanism in such a way that a discharging nozzle for discharging the molten steel and slag is provided and the plug fitted into the nozzle is attached and detached by a plug attaching and detaching means.

CONSTITUTION: A discharging nozzle 3 is provided in the lower part on the side wall of a tundish 2 of a continuous casting machine and a plug 4 is fitted thereto. When the rod of the 1st cylinder 13 is retracted, a movable shaft 10 is turned counterclockwise through the 1st lever 8, a link 12 and the 2nd lever 11 to discharge the molten steel and slag remaining in the tundish 2. The plug 4 mounted through a plug connecting means 15 to a turning shaft 10 is then removed from the inside of the nozzle 3. Fitting of the plug 4 into the nozzle 3 is accomplished by extending the rod of the cylinder 13.
