PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To arrange a mediums in the proper conveying position previously so as to accomplish stable mixed accumulation by correcting a deflection quantity in the conveying width direction in each medium in a conveying process before accumulation when the mediums, which are different in outline dimension, are mixedly accumulated.
SOLUTION: When a bill is introduced to a position for a deflection correcting device 45, a conveying condition of the bill is detected by means of a deflection quantity detecting sensors S1..., and if a proper conveying condition is attained, the bill is directly conveyed to the following stem. Contrarily, if a skew or a lateral deflection from the center position of the conveying width is detected in the bill by means of the deflection quantity detecting sensor S1, a conveying force releasing mechanism 52 is operated to be opened, and a clamping conveying force for the bill is temporarily released, so that a correction allowable condition is accomplished. During this condition, a deflection correcting roller 53 in a direction correcting mechanism 51 is reciprocated so as to correct a skew in the bill or so as to move the bill to the proper conveying center position for correction. After the correction of the deflection, the conveying force releasing mechanism 52 is returned to the original condition so as to clamp and convey the bill to the following step.
