Abstract:
To provide a medium handling apparatus which reduces the possibility of counting errors by expanding spaces between media.
A mounting board 12 is provided within a cassette 11, and a plurality of certificates 2 are piled up on the mounting board 12. A medium back pushing part 13 which is provided below the mounting board 12 can rise through rotation of a motor 22, and a pressure element 13a pushes up the certificates 2 from a lower position. When the certificates 2 are pushed up, a space between the certificates is expanded at a bottom end 2b of the certificates 2. Thereby, certificates can be accurately counted by an optical reflection sensor 5.
