This medicine containing the 1-methylcarbapenemu derivative is a 1-methylcarbapenemu compound represented by formula (1) [wherein R1 is a group represented by the formula COOR3 (R3 is hydrogen atom, a 1-6C alkyl group, or the like), a group represented by the formula CONR4R5 (R4 and R5 are each a hydrogen atom, a 1-6C alkyl group, or the like which may be substituted), a cyano group, a group represented by the formula CH2OR6 (R6 is hydrogen atom, a 1-6C alkyl group, or the like) or a group represented by the formula CH2NR7R8 (R7 is hydrogen atom, a 1-6C alkyl group, or the like; R8 is hydrogen atom, a 1-6C alkanoyl group, a 1-6C alkoxycarbonyl group, or the like); R2 is hydrogen atom or a 1-6C alkyl group; (n) is 1, 2 or 3; X is sulfur or oxygen atom] or its pharmacologically acceptable salt or a ester derivative thereof.
