Abstract:

To prevent a container from being worn in a furnace for melting waste and reducing the volume of the same.

A waste melting furnace comprises a container 1, for at least part of which a conductive material is used, a high frequency coil 2 connected to a high frequency power supply 15 for heating the container, stirring gas introducing means 19 for introducing stirring gas for stirring molten waste 3 in the container, an accommodation apparatus 10 for accommodating the whole of the container 1, and atmospheric gas substitution means 8 for substituting inactive gas fox the atmosphere in the accommodation apparatus 10. The container 1 is protected with use of inactive gas for the stirring gas introduction means 19 and the atmospheric gas substitution means 8, and with use of an inner lining 4, a conductive plate 7, an outer lining 13, and an inner wall protective gas nozzle 14. Further, the container is prevented from being oxidized and hence worn by introducing a reductive substance into the molten substance.
