Abstract:

To provide an apparatus and a method for stirring an object for melting and refining applicable to the case where a specimen is non-conductive without influencing an electron beam orbital during melting and refining with electron beam.

A melting and refining apparatus with electron beam comprises a vacuum container 20, a vacuum exhaust system 22 for keeping the vacuum container vacuum therein, an electron beam generator 14 for generating electron beam 12 in the vacuum container, a deflection coil 26 for generating a magnetic field 24 for deflecting the orbit of the electron beam, a crucible 18 for containing a specimen melted with the electron beam, a hole 18b penetrating a bottom 18a of the crucible, and a gas introduction nozzle 28 for introducing gas for a specimen in the crucible.
